The Clarence experience is maturing!

We are now offering a unified menu to all our guests, utilising as always our diverse Kiwi produce.

Nostalgic yet contemporary, food for everyone and everyday.
Bar snacks, small plates, handmade pasta, pizza and grilled dishes inspired by the Mediterranean but not limited by its traditions. 

We are proud and delighted to present this fresh evolution for Clarence and can’t wait to welcome you.

We are honoured to announce a 1 hat award in this year’s Cuisine awards alongside top 3 for best Sommelier & Wine experience’s for the gentleman of the house Charles Leong. It has been an incredible journey for Clarence, a project of passion which has kept us grounded with clear vision.

 Thanks to all our staff who have worked tirelessly to make this happen. It’s been a privilege to relaunch Clarence with Chef Simon Wright after last year’s forced closure and we are looking forward to the coming year. 

 Our sincere gratitude to our loyal patrons, suppliers and also the team at Cuisine Magazine who keep us all on our toes and show incredible support to our industry.

Chef Simon Wright

Simon Wright, former owner of the iconic Auckland restaurant, The French Café has a culinary legacy spanning well over 20 years.

In 2018, he traded in his fine dining chef whites for a family coastal lifestyle while serving the Coromandel community superb food from his food truck Gather & Roam.

Now, Simon returns to make his stamp in the culinary world at Clarence.

Sommelier, Charles Leong

Charles Leong offers delicious drops from boutique NZ wineries and internationally curated wines.

With his extended Sommelier experience with the acclaimed Momofuku restaurant in Sydney and relationships in the wine industry, Charles brings thoughtfully curated wine lists that will tickle your tastebuds and pair harmoniously with our menu offerings.

Due to the current national staffing shortage, we have had to make some adjustments to our offering.

We will still be delivering great food, cocktails and service with a more casual menu across the whole Clarence site, please see the menu here.
